Steering Committee Member, CRSE

James is the Chairman of IPSE, the Association of Independent Professionals and the Self Employed. As the largest association of independent professionals in the EU, representing over 67,000 freelancers, contractors and consultants from every sector of the economy, James’ main priority as Chairman is to support and protect the UK's self-employed population.

James has been active within IPSE since 2004, joining the Consultative Council in 2007 and the IPSE Board in 2008. He was appointed Chairman of IPSE in July 2015. He is renowned for his work supporting the events programme across the South of England and has experience of working on the Office of Tax Simplification Consultative Committee, IR35 forum, and HM Treasury's PAYE/NICS working group.

James has had a varied career both before and after going freelance 1998. He has worked in sales, marketing, technical support and now specialises in capacity management across telecoms, government and banking. Alongside his role as Chairman, James continues to work in performance management of IT systems for leading blue chip companies.
