Today the CRSE launches a video series titled: ‘Expert Perspectives on Self-Employment’. Filmed at the Annual Global Research Workshop on Freelancing and Self-Employment 2015, this series of videos provides a unique opportunity to hear from panel of experts discussing research and trends within the freelancing and self-employment sector, in a selection of exclusive interviews. With the number of self-employed people in the UK reaching new record highs in 2016, it is more important than ever that we accurately assess this vital part of the labour market.

Part 1: Andrew Burke on the value of freelancing

Andrew Burke, the Dean and Chair of Business Studies at Trinity College Dublin and Chairman of the CRSE, is the first to be interviewed in this series. In his video, Burke discusses the impact freelancers have on the productivity of companies and reasons behind the growth of freelancers in the UK.

In particular, his interview focuses on the value freelancing brings to the economy and how this will affect future trends in the way we work.
