In this video Marcus Dejardin discusses his research presented at the Annual Global Research Workshop on Freelancing and Self-Employment 2016.
Examining the dimensions of personal motivation and career expectations of self-employed workers in Belgium, Dejardin’s research explores whether self-employment is an active career choice or dictated by necessity.
He finds that the likelihood to remain in self-employment is higher according to your preferences for autonomy. In this video Dejardin also presents how his research compares to other perspectives shared at the workshop.
