In this video Anne Annink discusses her research presented at the Annual Global Research Workshop on Freelancing and Self-Employment 2016.
Her research examines how social support enables independent professionals to achieve work-life balance.
Annink draws on 50 semi-structured face-to-face interviews with independent professionals from the Netherlands, Spain and Sweden to illustrate that there is a multiplicity of individual, institutional and societal factors affecting social support for work-life balance.
Her key findings point that context may hinder and reinforce social support for work-life balance, resulting in different practices across countries.
